Man Tracker

Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Skimikin Lake.  10 AM start.  Details on how everything works is in the attachment.

It would be helpful if kids could pre-plan their teams and team names, but there will also be time to put together teams at the start.

The event is 90 minutes.  It should run from about 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM which allows some time at the beginning and end for organizing and results.  Bring a watch or other device to keep track of time!

Please arrive at the start/finish no later than 10:00 AM (9:45 would be better) - we hope to start the clock as soon as groups are organized.

We met with the Skimikin caretaker and there are a few requests:

  1. Don’t park in any campsites.  She will charge you for the site!

  2. Parking is free in the main parking lot (and walk to the start/finish area), along Skimikin road and on the FSR that goes around the lake.

  3. If you plan to stay after Mantracker, she suggested that the day use area by the main part of the campsite (east side of the lake) is a bit roomier and nicer.

Always a fun day!

SNOW CAMP at Silver Star Mountain Resort

  • Google Calendar ICS

The annual Larch Hills SNOW CAMP at Silver Star Mountain Resort.

We are staying at the Pinnacles Hotel

Focus points for this weekend training camp:

  • Quality skiing - focus on good technique always - mindfulness matters, make the most of your time skiing

  • Positive attitude - be supportive of all your teammates Track Attack, Race Team, Rec, Coaches and parents - be grateful you are skiing (there are not many places you can ski right now)

  • Sleep is critical - training stresses the body and mind, when we rest and especially when we sleep is when we repair and get stronger.  Without proper sleep, we do not benefit from the training.

  • Eat - it seems obvious but make sure you are getting enough food to keep your energy high all weekend, there is lots of high quality food to eat, breakfast, (bring snacks for your morning session it is 2.5 hours, drink system, sport drink is a good idea, Lunch, snack before you do the afternoon session.

Skiing at Sovereign Lake Skate technique

2 hour session 10am meet at the Wax Cabin

Race Team - Skate Technique - we will meet at the Wax Cabin ( log cabin on the right side as you drive in, near the biathlon range) which is across from the day lodge. Saturday will be incredibly busy with 400-500 skiers on 4 km of groomed trail, hopefully more trails are open by Saturday. Use older skis, keep your head up, you can avoid rocks but you have to be watching.

Track Attack: Meet at Canoe Beach parking lot. Bring rollerski gear, running gear, layers, water bottle & carrier. See email for details.

Rec Group - skiing at Sovereign. Technique to be decided. We will let you know via email closer to the date.

Halloween practise at Larch Hills

Hello Halloween Hunt Athletes and Parents,

We are gearing up for the Halloween Hunt this Saturday, at LH.  In order to have candy at the stations we ask that families bring a box of halloween candy to share.   Please drop it off to me if you can on the Thursday evening practice at Broadview School.
More details to follow for volunteers in a specific email.  As for the athletes, please be there at 9:40am in a costume that you can run in.  Pre organizing your teams and registering them with your coach in advance will help speed along the morning.  Coaches please email me your athletes teams and/ or hand me a written list the morning of, with the teams and their team name.  Also, we will have some hotdogs to roast after, by donation, just to cover costs.  Or feel free to bring your own hotdogs to roast.  I will have condiments there, as well as tea and hot choc.
Thanks!
Kris
